Logic and Cognition Conference 2026
The Department of Logic and Cognitive Science at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is delighted to announce the return of the Poznan Logic and Cognition Conference (L&C), taking place on 16–17 October 2026 in Poznań, Poland. This event continues the tradition of exploring the fruitful interplay between logic, cognitive science, psychology, and computer science, with the goal of shedding light on actual reasoning processes.
Today, logic faces new challenges and opportunities: modelling reasoning in humans and machines, accounting for bounded rationality, and integrating symbolic and data-driven approaches. These developments invite a dialogue between logicians, cognitive scientists, psychologists, and computer scientists—renewing the centuries-old ambition to understand how reasoning works and how it can be improved.
L&C 2026 will be a two-day, in-person conference featuring four invited speakers – Ruth Byrne, Ivano Ciardelli, Andrzej Wiśniewski, Jared Millson – and contributions from researchers working on topics on the interplay of logic, cognitive science, psychology and computer science which aim at shedding the light on actual reasoning processes. We particularly encourage submissions from early-career researchers (PhD candidates and postdocs) and welcome student participation through a dedicated poster session.
Topics of Interest
We welcome contributions on (but not limited to) the following topics:
- Applications of logic to the analysis of actual human reasoning
- Tools and methods suited for such applications
- Neural basis of logical reasoning
- Educational issues of cognitively-oriented logic
- Formal models of reasoning processes
- Non-classical logics, logics of questions
- Logic in cognitive architectures and AI
- Empirical studies of human reasoning
- Computational models of argumentation and decision-making
- Logical and philosophical foundations of cognitive science
- Interactions between logic, psychology, and computer science
Submission Guidelines
- Extended abstract: 500–1000 words, clearly stating aims, methodology, and results.
- Include pdf file.
- Indicate preferred presentation format: oral or poster.
- Poster format: A1 portrait (594 × 841 mm).
- All abstracts are peer-reviewed for quality and relevance.
A post-conference publication is planned in the journal Logic and Logical Philosophy (special issue). Detailed information regarding submission and review procedures will be announced after the conference.
Both active participants (presenting a paper or a poster) and passive participants (attending without presentation) are welcome.
